Witches of East End 2×06 ‘When A Mandragora Loves A Woman’: Penetrated by an avatar

So this weeks episode was all about defeating the Mandragora, which is pretty much a rogue Avatar, that is really horny and feeds on sex. I can’t think of a better way to put it. Last week, we learned that Joanna used to be in a relationship with the woman who is helping them defeat the creature, Alex. I call her Pretend River Song(Doctor Who). They dived deeper into that, this episode, and apparently, they were super serious and loved each other hardcore. Wendy ended up overhearing one of their conversations; needless to say, I am excited to see what she is going to tell Joanna next week. I think we can all agree, that Wendy is hilarious. But I am digressing, as usual. Let’s break down this week’s episode, shall we?

Ingrid finally knows that she is in a sexual relationship with the Mandragora, and she pretty much just spent the entire episode sobbing about it. The syringe that they stabbed her in the head with, made her remember everything that she did with the beast, and that caused an array of breathy cries. She got her friend Hunter killed, and that sucks because he was really funny in season one. I would’ve liked to see more of him. Speaking of which, what happened to her other friend, Bard? Did she have the baby? Its like, she just disappeared.

I am still not sure I am okay with her and Dash being a thing. The rest of the family is realizing their flirtations, and I am guessing they are not okay with it either. Is no one, especially Ingrid, concerned that he has a bit of an anger streak with magic? I’m guessing his powers run on emotion. Dash’s entire storyline is the literal definition of a First World Problem. On that note, when he was possessed by the beast around Freya, he said some terrible things, and even though she “cured” him, does it mean he’s cured from his other 30% evil side? I mean, I doubt that the stabbing thing they did, can cure his temper issues(ie, the disco flashbacks). Are they trying to throw us off course, making us think that Dash is a good guy in general? Because I’m not convinced.

Eva and Killian. Why? Why. WHY. I don’t even know where to begin with her. She is so shady. Casting spells on Killian and making him drink blessed concoctions. At one point, she drips how wax on Killian’s chest, and it almost looked like the Asgard symbol was showing up. Is she from Asgard? Is she like the King’s Owl Pet or something? I remember when Joanna did the spell, to figure out what is going on, a bird creature showed up in the smoke. Eva is an owl, if I remember correctly; Killian’s spirit animal. And then, she goes off, whispering in Killian’s ear, while he’s sleeping, something about a baby. A BABY? NO-NO, we don’t want your spawn, thanks.

I was beginning to get tired of Wendy hounding Frederick, because I was just beginning to trust him, and then Boom. Things hit the fan when we see Frederick’s Asgard burn glow, and him proceeding to foam at the mouth, talking about “I’m sorry grandfather. I’ll find another way”  after he killed the Mandragora. The way they filmed that scene was priceless; way to throw people on and off by angling the camera to make it look like he is about to kill Wendy. She can’t die. It’s only season 2, and she has one life left. I think they used those lives way too sparingly. I am digressing. Just as I was beginning to trust Frederick, the tables turn! I am going to stay naive, and hope that Joanna and Wendy can make the branding go away, and then Frederick will be good after all. This show just loves making the villains hot, don’t they?

Overall, this episode had a few “OH MY GOD” moments, but for the most part, I was surprisingly bored. What did you think of this week’s episode?
