The Vampire Diaries 6×03 ‘Welcome to Paradise’ : “There’s no reason to be Peter Pessimist.”

This episode seems to be divided into two : Bonnie and Damon in some sort of Pergatory; and everything else.  The everything else is sort of discombobulated and annoying.  The Bonnie and Damon is a little dark and twisty with mystery-ish.  By the end of this episode, we have another new character!

So, Elena erased Damon and Caroline is mad about it.  She spends most of the episode making veiled jabs at Elena while Elena remains confused.  Girl should’ve just had a day of subtweeting and ditched the judgment.  Enzo killed Stefan’s whatever girlfriend and Stefan is so mad that he has to go kill Enzo.  Or maybe he’s not mad about his girlfriend, just worried that Enzo will continue to bug the crap out of him for eternity.  Stefan spends the episode sort of hunting him down.  In the end, Stefan doesn’t quite kill Enzo, but Trip Fell is on it and gonna finish everything…and appears to be none the wiser to Stefan’s vampirism.  Also, Elena is, like, REALLY happy because she doesn’t remember Damon.  I liked seeing her that way, but it’s definitely not going to last.

What I really liked this episode was the new guy, Kai.  So Bonnie and Damon are trapped in some sort of hell…where it’s always nice, they don’t have to work or anything, the grocery store is open to them, and they have all the time.  All I could think was how I would totally be holed up and reading and also working my way through every cookbook ever.  But you know, hell to some is paradise to others.  Anyway, Bonnie and Damon want to get out but no magic and also, weird things are happening because new guy.  Kai enters the scene, after having been in hiding, stalking Bonnie and Damon for the entire time, and he’s mad.  He tries to kill Damon but then tries to play it off like he was just egging on Bonnie’s magic.  Umm…right.  Whatever.  We’re left with all these questions : Who is Kai?  How did he get there?  Where are they anyway?  Was this really set up by Bonnie’s gram?  Can Bonnie’s magic get them out?  And once she’s out, what the hell will she be?  There’s a lot here, and I hope they take a while with it…minus Damon constantly picking at Bonnie.  Because I’m into this.

Also, Tyler, Jeremy, and Matt are doing a whole lot of nothing.  I mean, Tyler is trying not to invoke his curse again and Matt is in training and Jeremy is boozing it up with a girl who remembers that Elena attacked her?  I guess that’s what’s happening.  It took forever for them to realize that compulsion fades in Mystic Falls because curse, DUH! Whatever.  What has you interested in this episode?  Is anyone out there a big Tyler fan, like totally rooting for him?  Aren’t we all just waiting for him to kill someone and wolf out again?  What is the purpose of those witchy twins?  Something has to be cooking, right?  Conspire with me in the comments!
