Pretty Little Liars 6×10 ‘Game Over, Charles’ Summer of Answers Reveals All

91

Well we found out who A is. Although the episode told us everything we have been wondering over the last 6 seasons, it was fairly underwhelming the way it all came out. One thing is for sure though, I was right about Sarah Harvey all along!

So first thing’s first, Cece Drake is A. Many fans were right when they posed this theory. There were too many connections to Cece. But then the Charles storyline came to light and the attention shifted to him. Now we find out that Cece and Charles are one in the same. Cece Drake was born Charles DiLaurentis. She was sent away to Radley, she claims, because her father couldn’t accept her being transgendered. So for years she was confined to Radley under the guise that she was a danger to her little sister, who she actually loved more than anything.

Cece set her sights on the Liars because they came between her and Alison. She realized that they weren’t upset that Alison was gone and once she found out that Alison was still alive, she realized that Ali would come out of hiding if she thought her friends were in danger. Although she did some horrible things to the girls, Cece claims that she loves them all too. They, just like Alison, are her dolls and she would never do anything to really hurt them. Now Cece seems a little delusional, but let’s look at all that she’s been through. She not only had to go through a hard journey coming to terms with her own identity, but was then outcasted by her own family. Even her own mother who did truly love her kept her hidden from the world. Then her only friend in Radley betrayed her. She realized that her mother had faked her own death to make it easier for herself. It’s no wonder that Cece developed some disturbing social behavior. After all Ali was a manipulating liar too, they both probably learned it from their mother. After everything  Cece went through the one person that knew who she truly was, the one person that did always love her was murdered.

The concept of Cece being Charles is definitely interesting. It made for a very interesting season filled with conflicting information made to keep us guessing. There were clues that A was female, but there were also clues that pointed to it being Charles. I am glad that all of mysteries finally have answers however I wished that they would have taken some more time to delve into them. I mean is this the last we are going to hear about Mrs. Cavanaugh? She was just in the wrong place and the wrong time and gets pushed off a roof? And what about Toby? How will he react?

Bethany Young seemed to be such a huge plot point but we don’t really get any closure to her story. We don’t see what happened to her, we just hear Mona’s rushed confession. Which by the way, does no one care that Mona murdered a girl, buried her and kept it a secret all this time. We don’t even get to see what happens to Mona. Do the girls tell the cops that Mona killed Bethany? Does she go to jail? Even though we have the answers there are still so many more questions, and not because there are new mysteries but because there are such huge plot holes. Even though we have the answers we were searching for, it doesn’t mean we have the closure.

One giant plot hole is Sarah Harvey. I wasn’t shocked in the least when Sarah was revealed to be Red coat. She always seemed off to me. Especially when she jumped to call Tanner, and when she didn’t enter the room in the Carassimmi Group with the rest of the girls. But what we don’t know is why. Why did Sarah help Cece? What was her motive? She was there from the very beginning. She was the one in the black veil at Ali’s funeral in episode 1. Are we not supposed to question her reasoning? Or will this be revealed in the second half of the season? What will be in the second half of the season? It seems like they spilled the beans on almost everything and now have jumped forward 5 years to a brand new mystery. Does this mean we won’t get any more closure to what has been building for the whole show?

I feel like they tried to rush everything into this summer finale and wrap everything up to get it out of the way. They spent 6 seasons building up to this moment it is underwhelming just to hear it all from Cece in story form.

We still don’t know who murdered Mrs. DiLaurentis. Could this be the one mystery that spans 5 years and finally comes back to bite Ali in the butt?
