Pretty Little Liars 5×21 ‘Bloody Hell’ A goes international

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this new A is INTENSE. Forget manipulating and scaring people, they go straight for the bodily harm. From sending Cyrus to the hospital with severe burns, to almost crushing Mike with his weights, A is not messing around. They are even able to mess with Spencer while she is on her trip to England. Everybody watch out, A has gone international.

So what is it with the liars kissing boys that aren’t their boyfriends? First Spencer and Barn Boy last week and now Aria and Dimples this week. You can thank Spencer Hastings for that nickname. I know that Ezra and Aria are on a kinda/sorta break but it feels like Andrew is being forced in as another piece of drama just to keep things interesting. If the writers expand his character and build off of this storyline to make it into something more than just more drama for Aria or more ammo for A then I will be satisfied. But as it sits now the storyline appears to be a copy of Spencer’s story arc with Johnny. Both girls are going through a hard time and for whatever reason they have been distanced from their boyfriends. Now insert a cute boy that is there to support them and give them just what they need in each of their specific situations. For Spencer it is some fun, some freedom, an alternative path to her planned out life. For Aria it is someone to confide in, to help her with the issues surrounding her brother, and to pretty much safe the day whether it be bandaging up her ankle or chasing off bad guys with a baseball bat. Either the writers are just using the same storyline for both girls or it is all a part of a big conspiracy where both Johnny and Andrew are working with A in a bigger scheme to destroy the liars once and for all. The latter seems a bit far-fetched. But wouldn’t it be kind of cool?

Before Spencer boards a plane back to the motherland, Emily, Aria and her head on over to the prison for a nice little visit with their ex-friend Alison. By the end of the episode we see Ali apologizing to Hannah for the way she treated her friends, she even sheds a few tears as she explains how her stay in prison has enlightened her to how her friends must have felt being manipulated and controlled. We haven’t seen much of Alison in prison and after this episode I can’t help but wonder if the reasoning was to keep us unaware of Alison’s intentions. We haven’t seen her go through this enlightenment. We haven’t seen her at all. Could it be that she is still playing the game, or is her lack of screen time just due to the writers having better storylines to focus on? I’m sure we will find out soon enough. Hopefully we also find out who has been leaving messages for Alison in the laundry room. An even better question is, was Alison leaving a note when she wrote Mona’s name? Or was it just her doodling in the dust? Either way she got an answer ‘told EVERYTHING’. Does this mean Mona is alive? That she has been talking with someone? Or are they referring to her telling Mike? Too many questions have been brought up this episode. Hopefully they will all get answered in the finale. That or we will be left to make up some ridiculous theories and argue on Tumblr over them for the next few months.
