This week on Glee we see the marriage of my favourite coupling – Brittany and Santana; oh and Kurt and Blaine! It’s just what you expect for a Glee weeding: breaking the rules, marriage in a barn, singing and dancing, random proposals and peer-pressured marriages.
It all starts from where Brittany was born – in a barn! Although Miss Lopez and Artie didn’t picture the wedding to take place here Santana will do anything to make her bride-to-be happy and apparently being married where you were born does that! Cue bride-gowns try on song. Santana and Brittany take it in turns to work the runway for their bridesmaids to choose what suits them best and finally they choose and Santana can’t help but wait to look at Brittany. Uh-oh, Britt freaks out because she’s very superstitious apparently and she goes to extreme measures to counteract her bad luck.
Santana has to remind Brittany the reasoning behind the ‘silly superstition’ of the bride not seeing the groom before the wedding and that was because of arranged marriages and if they couple saw each other prior to the wedding then maybe it wouldn’t have happened – she then goes on to remind Britt that they break all the rules and as long as they have each other they’ll be fine!
At first Santana bans Sue from joining her wedding and even goes to the length of hiring security just in case she shows up. Of course Sue shows up and of course she ends up doing something really really endearing – she manages to persuade Santana’s Abuela to come to the wedding despite her personal opinions. You go Sue! Sue doesn’t stop there though, she works along with Brittany to corner Kurt and Blaine to follow what they think they want and get married! It was weirdly done as a do-it-for-Brittany-and-Santana-kind-of-thing. I think I’m happy that they’ve gotten married but I also feel like it was too rushed, especially for a couple that have had so much screen time in regards to their relationship/marriage but whatever its obvs down to episode lefts and tying up loose ends?
Back to the main wedding – Burt being the perfect man that he is gives the best speech ever about equality for marriage that even bought Abuela to tears and then he married the two couples by the power from the internet and then the song and dance commenced! Mercedes and Artie slayed it with ‘At Last’ by Etta James and then the New Directions along with Artie sung ‘Hey Ya’ by Outkast, which was really good and dancey!
One of my favourite performances was ‘I’m so excited’ being performed by all of the brides’ and grooms’ mothers! All in all it was a really nice episode and I was watching it with a smile on my face for the most of it. My only qualm with it was the lack of Quinn and the rushing of Klaine!
