Five years later and he we are; left a crossroad waiting to see where/what our beloved characters will get up to. The season finale has surprisingly been enjoyable and [dare I say it] well written. All in all the episode had a couple of twists and turn and Murphy subtly hinted potential directions that the characters may go in!
A kooky writer from the network that wishes to write a script on Rachel’s life shadows Rachel and the gang – Megan Holleran. Megan isn’t everybody’s cup of tea and after a while Kurt and Artie pick up on this and try to tell Rachel. Thankfully Rachel has left her diva mode behind [and hopefully for good] and although at first she is reluctant to admit she finally does. Rachel’s rejection of Megan’s vision was born after they all sat down to read the script Megan put together. The script included Rachel’s two gay NASA dads and Kurt in a dinosaur outfit – need I say more?!?
After many talks with her best friend Kurt; Rachel decides to take her pilot into her own hands and the best way to show Megan her desired approach was of course through song. After Rachel beautifully performs Pink’s ‘Glitter In The Air’ Megan can finally see that she needs to write a show about making people happy rather than miserable. Operation Rachel’s new pilot is on!
Meanwhile there’s trouble in paradise, as Blaine cannot deal with the guilt of his lie. Blaine has lied about Kurt being in June’s event that she’s put on to showcase his talent. Blaine does try his best to persuade June to let Kurt perform but of course she sasses him out and he can’t say anything. Blaine does what we love him to do and he sits at the piano and sings a song jam packed full of emotions – this time we get ‘All of Me’ by John Legend. I don’t know if it was the song or June’s sass but upon seeing Kurt, Blaine bares all!
At first Kurt is angry and reacts how anybody would and he feels like he can’t trust Blaine anymore. However with Kurt being the only one with a brain he realises that he can’t get in the way and he understands why Blaine did what he did – cue make up sex! I don’t know what it is that’s different but Blaine didn’t annoy me today [I quite liked him] AND I enjoyed Klaine for a first time in a while!
Whilst all this is going on Samcedes’ relationship is being tested yet again. Mercedes is about to go on tour and Sam’s modelling career is taken a potential step for the best as he’s landed himself a shoot to be the new face [body] of ‘Treasure Trailz.’ Sam’s finding it difficult to control his sexual urges and half naked women dancing in bikini’s isn’t going to help a heterosexual male! Due to his frustration the photographer feels a lot of ‘sex’ from him and she invites him back for a shoot.
Although both Sam and Mercedes have been told to break up with each other, neither of them want to! Back at the shoot the photographer is getting up close and personal with Sam and explains that whatever happens in the room is between them – cue kiss and everybody screaming at the tv/laptop saying no no no! Thankfully we find out in a speedy confession to Mercedes that it was just a kiss. I think you know what’s coming next – the break up! Mercedes realises it’ too much to ask Sam to wait until he’s 30 and she breaks things off. At first Sam is reluctant but then agrees to it and tells her that he’ll always be thinking of her. I don’t know how I feel about this – I’m slightly annoyed because all this time they’ve been building them up for them just to break up?!?!
It’s the night of the concert and in his thank you speech to June, Blaine explains that he owed his inspiration and passion to the person he’s most passionate about – Kurt! Ten point to you Blaine, bravo. Although Blaine goes against June’s orders and sings a duet of ‘American Boy’ with Kurt she lets him off because of the good reaction they got. Thankfully everything has resolved itself in the June department! “Time to party” – as said by June herself.
Oh and that’s not it, towards the end of the episode Rachel helps re-write her script and they submit it to the network –only to later find out it’s getting picked up for a pilot! [We knew this was going to happen but yay] Wait there’s more, Sam’s dream finally comes true and he’s on the side of a bus! Rachel, Kurt, Mercedes, Brittany, Sam and Blaine are all standing on the streets of New York as they call themselves the ‘Glee Kids’ [cue potential tears] it was such a nice ending scene in which they all confessed their love for each other and how even though they may go off in their own directions they’ll always be there for one another and they promise to come back in six months. One last final group song with ‘Pompeii’ but Bastille and a final flash mod – cut to Sam going back to Lima, Mercedes off on her tour and Blaine moving back in with Kurt and Rachel.
