With an episode being titled ‘Diva’ we are to expect tantrums, titivations and tiffs. Surprisingly, Glee delivered a much more emotional serving rather than the expected flavours of bitchy, cold and ruthlessness.
The New Directions are back in the running for regionals and Finn is struggling to find ways to bring out the inner fighters from the new glee club. ONE WAY: A DIVA OFF! The glee club is thrilled by their new assignment with Unique thinking she’s the epitome of diva and Blaine Anderson adamant in proving that boys can be divas too.
It all kicks off with a perfect sassy rendition of Beyonce’s ‘Diva’ in which all the potential diva’s shake what their mama gave ‘em.
Finn and Emma announce the return of a special guest who has come fresh from Kentucky with some cheerleader back up to accompany her for her rendition of ‘Nutbush City Limits’. That’s right, you guessed it, Miss Santana Lopez aka diva personified returns much to Tina’s dislike to show them how its done. She announces her disapproval of Trouty Mouth and Brittany’s relationship and uncovers her new girlfriend. I love Santana with all my heart but I think she just needs to let Sam and Brittany be, after all she did the grown up thing and broke up with Brittany so they both could be happy without drifting into awkwardness.
Using Santana as inspiration Tina decides to take her life into her own hands, diva style. Tina gets invited over to Blaine’s and he see’s the inner diva that we all know exists within. Tina pours her beautiful little heart out telling Blaine how she loves him but to her dismay he fell fast asleep.
Confusingly, Tina is now mega pissed with Blaine even though he made it quite clear he’s a golden star gay! Using her newly found inner diva she bursts into Mckinley the next day looking very Madonna chic and then totally owned ‘Hung Up.’ I loved seeing Tina in this light as I knew it was always inside of her just waiting to burst. It is is now Tina’s time to shine! With that being said TINA COHEN CHANG FINALLY WON A SING OFF! YOU GO GLEN COCO.
Santana has finally dropped out of college and Sue offers her the position of leading the Cheerios. This seems to be the new craze, returning to high school and automatically getting a job! Sam explains to Santana that he’s what is best for Brittany and she knows how right he is! Brittany comes to find out that Santana hasn’t got a girlfriend and she’s dropped out of college! She persuades Santana to follow her dreams and not to settle for Sue’s offer. Yes yes yes, please Santana go! Go to New York!
Meanwhile over in NYADA, Kurt and Rachel seem to be in the middle of their own diva-off. Rachel has, yet again, become egotistical, self-obsessed and needs to ‘be brought down a peg or too’ according to her room-mate. Really writers of glee, really? Why has Rachel taken another full circle around, after feeling insecure to then finally gain some confidence to then fall in the inevitable pit of being over confident. Kurt decides that Brody’s filthy habits polymerised with Rachel’s hair extensions is enough and he decided to challenge her to a sing-off at the ‘Midnight Madness’ which is the NYADA equivalent of fight club.
Rachel gets knocked back as she finds out that Kurt let her win in the ‘Defying Gravity’ sing off as that was her first main win. Furthermore back in the halls of NYADA, Rachel’s new posse insult Kurt and THANKFULLY Rachel defends him, I was scared that Rachel wouldn’t defend him to remain popular but she did go to defend him but was stopped by Kurt himself as he decided to let his voice do all the talking. His voice did just that! He brought home the victory during the Midnight Madness sing off with his performance of ‘Bring Him Home’ from Les Miserables.
Back at Mckinley Emma is stressing about her wedding and wants everything to go perfectly without her OCD getting in the way. Sadly, it all gets too much for her and she’s left in an emotional state. Of course the best thing to do is have Finn swoop in and plant one on her lips! On the lips! Just when I was beginning to appreciate their new relationship and how Emma was always there for Finn and vice versa. In my head Finn was like Emma’s and Will’s child. Why. Why did this have to be ruined!? Is the wedding off now?
