One of the first people to ever make me love television was Heather Locklear. I was obsessed with her on Melrose Place, and to see her tonight on Fresh Off the Boat made my heart smile. Playing a heartless ex-wife who actually grew to have compassion, she is a guest star we need more of.
This week the focus was more on the neighbors than the Huangs. With Nicole not doing her work when she is with her mom, the pressure falls on Honey to be the hardass. When she goes to vent to Jessica, well – Jessica doesn’t really understand and winds up getting Marv’s ex fired. That ex, you guessed it…Heather! Well, in this case her name is Sarah. What I loved about that whole thing was the girl power. In the end Sarah and Honey were able to come to this sort of spoken, mostly unspoken deal when it came to Nicole so no one would have to be the homework police.
I was going to say I don’t see why exes and current spouses can’t be friends, but I guess when cheating was involved – there will be some drama. All in all though, when you are grown and there are children involved, you have to suck it up like these two and move forward. Maybe that stems from watching my parents remain friends all these years.
When the focus wasn’t on Honey and Heat-Sarah, the Huang men were trying to figure out how old grandma was to insure she was old enough to get a free electronic wheelchair. Not too interesting, right? It was only funny when grandma took it upon herself to key the car of a salesman who didn’t need much proof to show her age. Doesn’t he know women are sensitive to that sort of thing? RUDE. He deserved what he did to that car.
In the end it was an okay episode made delightful by Heather Locklear. Which, can we all agree she can stop by anytime? Also, this is the second Melrose Place actor to pop up. Will there be more?
