Faking It 2×15 ‘Boiling Point’

The gang reenacts the Breakfast Club minus all the bonding. Somehow everyone ends up in Saturday detention and of course this is when all of the secrets come spilling out. And their aren’t even any catchy dance montages.

Secrets get spilled! Little secrets such as Felix being the Principle’s son, and Zita coming on to Liam, as well as Amy’s Dad being back in town. Which is a little juicer than the former two. Apparently Mr. Raudenfeld has not been a very stable father. He is a war journalist who travels more often than he is home. He is always sweeping in, disrupting Amy’s life and leaving just as fast as he arrived, only staying long enough to break Amy’s heart once again. This is the reason why Karma doesn’t like him. She sees how upset Amy is every time he leaves. Which is why Amy was keeping his presence in Austin a secret. Also because her mom has been hooking up with him. I see a butt load of drama in the future since Mr. Raudenfeld has decided to stay in town for a while after Amy calls him out on being a deadbeat dad. With his prolonged presence Bruce is bound to find out about the affair. An affair that I am very disappointed happened at all, because it is so stereotypical and came out of nowhere. Although in times like these I do have to remind myself that Faking It is only a half hour show, so in order to move the story along things do need to happen fast.

Just as Farrah and Hank’s affair gets discovered so does Lauren and Theo’s. Karmy stumbles upon the couple making out in the hallway during detention. Boy I wish my dreamy cop boyfriend could work in my high school so that we could have kissing sessions between class, that doesn’t sound creepy and inappropriate at all. Now don’t be fooled by my sarcasm, I do like Theo and I like him and Lauren together, I just enjoy pointing out the ridiculousness of the situation. Like many things in Faking It I can’t think too much about the nonsensicalness of it all or else my head will explode. And this isn’t the juiciest secret of the night either.

It is revealed why Mr. Booker was creepily stalking Karma at the end of last episode. He has offered her $250,000 to stay away from his son. It’s a little stereotypical but I guess it makes sense. Karma and her family are broke; this would be the one thing that would tempt her. Things are so bad that she is living in a juice truck and falling asleep in class because she is working as much as possible just to get her family as much money as possible. That cheque would have made a huge difference to get the Ashcroft’s back on their feet. Liam though is understandably upset. Even after she explains how it would help her family he argues that if the deal was to stay away from Amy she wouldn’t even be considering it. But what young Mr. Booker doesn’t realize is that Amy and Karma have a very different relationship than he and Karma have.

We have to remember that Karma and Liam have only really known each other for less than a year. They just started talking at the beginning of the series; it hasn’t even been a full 12 months yet. Karma has known Amy since kindergarten. They have been best friends for years, sharing intimate secrets, being each other’s shoulders to cry on, and supporting one another for most of their lives. Whereas Liam and Karma have been making out for the better part of a year. When you look at it that way it doesn’t even seem to compare. Karma does ultimately decide against taking the money. But the whole thing doesn’t completely end with no harm being done. After discovering what his father did Liam quits the company in a pretty unforgettable way, even going as far as to leave home and ask Shane if he can crash with him for a little while. What will this mean? Have we seen the last of Zita? Will Liam’s family disown him leaving him as poor as Karma?
