Faking It 2×12 ‘ The Revengers: Age of the Monocle’ You Can’t Handle the Truth

You would have thought that by now these kids would have figured out that being honest and telling the truth to the people that you care about is the best course of action, but apparently that lesson hasn’t quite sunk in yet.

Reagan’s back and she’s being a little clingy. Amy on the other hand would love to have a little time away from her girlfriend to give herself time to miss the DJ. Which is why she volunteers Karma to help Reagan cater waiter at an event that night. It’s understandable that Amy would want some time away. You can’t spend every moment with someone without feeling overwhelmed and getting irritated with them. But Amy doesn’t go about getting some time apart the right way. Which is the theme of this episode (let’s be honest, the whole darn show): keeping secrets!

So just as Amy is avoiding telling Reagan she wants some space, she also hasn’t mentioned to her girlfriend that she sometimes has an attraction to men. Reagan has shown before that she is a little biphobic due to the past betrayal of her ex girlfriend. Charlotte dated Reagan for 2 years then left her for a guy Todd and now introduces her as ‘an old friend’. Reagan was not only devastated by the break up but it has now created some deep seeded trust issues. I am hoping that this story line will lead to a deeper discussion surrounding biphobia. Just because a person is attracted to both males and females does not mean that they will be a cheater or incapable of monogamy. In the past Faking It has been able to discuss issues in a very honest and respectful way while still maintaining the light comedic atmosphere of the show. I hope that biphobia is another issue that the show can tackle and shine a light on the prejudice that this group in the LGBT community faces.

While Reagan is once again confronting her trust issues with her ex, Karma and Liam are working through some of their own trust issues. Coincidentally Karma has been hired to waiter at the launch event for the Sqwerkel monocle where Liam and Zita are of course both in attendance. I’ve got to say that I wasn’t sure about Zita at first, I thought she was going to be a mean girl sent in to stir up some drama, but it looks like she is just a really awesome, honest, outspoken chick. After Liam confides in her about his relationship with Karma, how he gave up art for her, and how he found a shirtless man in her bedroom, Zita is brutally honest with him. She is one of the people this episode pushing her friend to be honest and tell their significant other the truth. Although it’s not her place, it does seem to work out when she takes it upon herself to tell Karma for Liam. It actually sparks a conversation between the two and gets them one step closer. The sweet moment is slightly undercut by the bondage sex the two have on what I assume is Mr. Booker’s desk. Speaking of, I would think that Liam would have been at home dealing with his roofied father and not have kinky sex in the office.

Lauren still isn’t over Theo’s betrayal. Amy and Shane walk in to find her clad in a dark hoodie, standing in front of an extremely creepy revenge wall. I think someone has been watching a little too much Pretty Little Liars.

When she isn’t stuck in the infinite scroll of tumblr, or reading endless amounts of fanfiction, she is marathoning her latest tv obsession. The only problem is, Shea’s television tastes are so expansive, none of her friends have ever heard of the shows she talks about. And she talks often and endlessly about her obsessions. So please for the sake of her friends and loved ones, come talk to her so she can tell you about all of her theories. Her Rants and Ramblings can also be found on her: Tumblr!
