Faking It 2×11 ‘Stripped’ LIES!

It seems like the sneak peek for this season was a clever edit to stir up more drama than there actually is. There are a few scenes that I realized the promo misappropriated to entice us. The main thing being new guy Felix. In fact this whole episode revolved around the assumption that Karma was hooking up with him.

We come back after the hiatus to a two week time gap, just enough time for the dust to have settled after the drama of last season. Karma, Amy and Liam have seemingly moved past the issues they were facing after the events of ‘Busted’. However Karma is still acting strange and distant. She hasn’t taken Liam back, but is keeping him just close enough by hooking up with him whenever she likes. I do like Karma. I know there is debate over what type of person she is. And I do admit she is a very self-centered person, this is the perfect example of that, but I do think she has a good heart and she is just someone who is a more introverted thinker. Her mind automatically revolves around herself and how things affect her, other people just don’t really occur to her. Which explains why she hides the new drama in her life from Amy. She doesn’t think about what Amy will think but how embarrassed she is by it.

The drama isn’t that she is hooking up with Felix at the same time she is hooking up with Liam. It is that her family is now broke after her parents were busted for marijuana distribution, so they are renting out their house. This is why Amy caught Felix in Karma’s (nearly empty) bedroom. His family is renting the Ashcroft’s house, while Karma and her parents live in the backyard in their juice truck. Poor Karma has been pulling away from Amy because she was too embarrassed to admit she’s living in a truck. She was also worried about letting Amy in on her family’s drama because she knows what strain their friendship just went through and she didn’t want to make it worse. Which, dear Karma, is exactly what lying to your best friend would do. I forget sometimes that these kids are still only 16. Once you remember this some of their decisions make a lot more sense.

Felix has pretty much just been used as bait for the Karmy and Kiam shippers. The promo made it seem like both Karma and Amy were hooking up with him and many of the clips that suggested this were proven false in this episode. When Liam knocks on her window and a shirtless Felix is revealed it does look suspicious. Luckily we are already aware of why he is there, unlike when they showed that clip in the promo. As well the clip were Amy is coming on to Felix and talking about how she has never labeled herself was used out of context in the promo. Although Amy has never labeled herself and could very well end up with Felix or another man, she is flirting with him as a means to prove he isn’t gay like Karma was claiming.

I am happy to have discovered that some of these things from the promo have been taken out of context, however I hate it when commercials manipulate scenes just to stir up interest. I hope the rest of the season has some actual drama, some real interesting storylines and not just bait to make us tune in.
