Chicago PD 2×12 ‘Disco Bob’ Guess who’s back?!

Someone’s in the kitchen with Halstead, someone’s in the kitchen half naaaked. Someone’s in the kitchen with Halstead and it’s Lindsay!

The night we have all been waiting for finally happened. The Linstead coupling has finally come to pass and the morning after is just as good as the night before. A half naked Lindsay finds a half naked Halstead in the kitchen ‘rehydrating’ for the next round. The two share their patented witty banter and a couple of smoldering kisses. What a way to start the show. Not only was the scene adorable and sexy but it was filled with plenty of eye candy. Sadly the scene is cut short when Halstead gets called away on a case. But not before Lindsay tells him that she is leaving the country on assignment. When does she leave? Oh of course, tomorrow. Later on we learn that the assignment would be for 6 months. Quite a long time apart for any relationship, never mind a brand new one. So the two decide to put a pin in it and keep the door open for the future.

The funny thing is, by the end of the episode Lindsay goes to Voight and asks for her old job back. Just as I predicted it was going to happen, although I didn’t think it would be this soon. I knew Lindsay would make it back into Intelligence eventually and that her newly founded relationship with Halstead would be an issue but I thought it would be halfway through the season after they have been dating for a while and Lindsay finally got fed up with her new task force gig. Either they will have to come out as a couple and deal with the team or they will put a stop to it altogether since the old rules are back in place. I have a feeling Erin is going to put a stop to it and put her job first but Jay will not be ok with it this time. Now that they have finally taken that next step I don’t see Jay being able to go back to being just friends and colleagues. I am a little upset that Chicago PD would use Erin’s promotion as just a tiny plot point used to cause drama and further the Linstead relationship. I mean I get why they did it, it makes sense and it moves things along, but it has only been 2 episodes.

I would have liked to see Erin stay there and fight for her job a little bit. The last straw was her misogynistic new boss assigning her to go to the nail salon with a female informant, which is quite demeaning and upsetting but Erin Lindsay is not the type of woman to back down from a fight. I am a little disappointed that instead of putting him in his place she turned tail and ran back to Voight and the security of the Chicago PD. I know that this last insult was the end of a list of things that made Erin want to leave her new position, I just thought that the whole return to the Intelligence team would come a little later into the season and we would get to see Erin be a badass in a blazer a little while longer.
