Chicago PD 3×12 ‘Looking Out for Stateville’

Deputy Crowley is worried that Voight enlisting his old bunkmate as a CI is just “Stateville looking out for Stateville” turns out she’s kinda right. Voight owes Eddie a lot. But Hank Voight is no sucker, and he knows how to handle guys like Eddie.

Hank tells Antonio the story of how he and Eddie came to be friends. When Antonio finally arrested Voight and put him away Voight went into Gen Pop (General Population) amongst men he himself put away. Needless to say there was a bounty on his head. So of course he ended up in a life-threatening situation where he says he was only worried about how his son would remember him. This is the changing point. I had always been curious as to what had happened to make Voight go from the asshole we were introduced on Chicago Fire to this badass amazing Sargent we love now on Chicago PD. It was this moment here. He realized what was really important to him, his family, and his work. Really when you think about it the bad things he did on Chicago Fire were all in the pursuit to protect his son. Good intention, bad execution. So when he was about to be executed himself, he probably thought that if he could make it out of this he would do things right. So when Eddie came and saved his butt he was granted the second chance that changed his life.

It is understandable then that Voight would want to do whatever it takes to help Eddie. It’s just too bad that Voight can’t protect the man from himself. It appears that Eddie has eyes too big for his stomach. He wants cash and he wants it now. He doesn’t want to punch a clock at a 9 to 5, or so it seems. Turns out Eddie has been playing Voight from the beginning. The whole reason he hooked up with the cop in the first place was so when he finally got out, he could enact revenge on Rory Jensen, the guy who is ultimately the reason he is in jail in the first place, and of course, Eddie doesn’t mind the $600,000 he gets out of it either. I knew all along that Voight didn’t fully trust Eddie. Of course he didn’t! He’s Hank Voight, he’s not stupid. He was hoping that his friend would do the right thing and wouldn’t betray him, but of course he had a plan in place in case he did. Seeing the smirk wiped off of Eddie’s face when he sees Antonio sitting in the front seat of his getaway car is just priceless. NO ONE MESSES WITH VOIGHT!

The Ruzek and Burgess train wreck continues. This storyline has been dragged on so long, with only snippets of it being leaked out in each episode. Which I suppose is realistic to the situation that Burgess is going through. Little by little she is finding it harder and harder to explain away Adam’s actions and the feeling that she has that he isn’t fully committed. I however think she is overreacting. Not about the feelings she is having, those are perfectly valid, but from what we have seen she hasn’t talked to anyone other than Roman about these issues, never mind her fiancée. Adam thinks everything is fine because every time he has asks her if something is wrong she says it’s fine. Maybe she throws in a few subtle hints here and there about what’s bothering her but Adam Ruzek doesn’t seem like the type of man that would pick up on subtlety. Instead of just quitting and giving him back the ring she should have discussed it with him. We were left on a cliffhanger with Kim giving the ring back to Adam saying she’s giving him an out, he replies “Kim” in a shocked tone, because he’s shocked! He didn’t see this coming and I bet next episode we will see them back together, happy and planning their wedding. Another shocking cliffhanger made to make us tune in next week where it will be resolved in the first 30 seconds.
