Castle 8×07 ‘The Last Seduction’: Buffing out some problems

Oh, this was better. Much better. And you actually got me there for a second with Ryan taking that bullet. So yeah, I liked it, or I’m just used to the madness, either or works.

How about that ending though? I didn’t know how much I missed those two kissing each other until he grabbed her the second she walked in the door for their “time out” to the “time out.” And it was lovely for about two seconds until Kate had to leave.

I do have to say that I liked that Castle saw one of texts Vik sent Kate about the case because knowing Castle, he’ll probably find out what is actually going on in a jiff. Which I don’t know if that’s a good or a bad thing, but I just want Caskett together at this point, and end the entire sub-plot with Kate. Even though I’m not a fan of what is going on with Kate, they did treat it better in this episode than they have been in the last few, so at least I can be happy about that.

The real jewel of this episode though was:

I absolutely loved their little therapy session at the beginning, and the fact that Castle was the only one who could “buffer” them to stop the fighting. Which didn’t actually stop them from fighting of course, and the amount of “shot in the ass” jokes were pretty high, but it was good.

And actually pretty clever. I never even notice how closely their relationship was mirroring Caskett’s the entire time, but that could be because I was too shocked during the commercial break after RYAN GOT SHOT. I immediately regretted saying that I wanted more serious episodes with these two, but the fact that they finally reunited at the end and finished their long, hilarious, and troubling arc was well worth it.

Now, if we could only get Caskett on board with that.

I was a little confused with the mystery tonight, but those haven’t really mattered lately. That spa scene though will probably go down in history as one of my favorite scenes of the show, and I just need Hayley and Kate work together more often with Alexis of course.

All in all I’m still not super stoked with direction the show is going in when it comes to Castle and Beckett, and I still think it feels a lot different from what it used to be, but this week was a step in a better direction.
