Bachelor in Paradise 1×02 ‘Week 2′: Love triangles and triumphs

Source: ABC

Um, wow.  Can we just say that a LOT happened in this second week?  And I am really concerned about the mental health of some of these people.  No wonder there’s a psychiatrist that follows up with each person after they get booted.  Let’s dive in…

Right away, we learn that Michelle K left due to a “secret” relationship with crew member Ryan Putz.  He was so scared of getting caught that he jumped off the balcony and broke both of his ankles.  Talk about ouch.  But Michelle wasn’t the only one who had already found love before the show; later on, we learn that Ben has a girlfriend back home, and did not have the right intentions for being there.  He left on his own as well.

Everyone else seems to be there for the right reasons, except for maybe Chris B, who is notorious for being a player.  I mean, maybe he’s there to meet women, but I definitely wouldn’t call “love” his goal.  He takes Clare on a date, then makes out with Elise, who is supposed to be with Dylan?  Talk about awkward.  And, you know, I’m glad that Dylan didn’t accept the rose from Elise.  He easily could’ve just to stay on the show, but he’s an honest man and didn’t feel right taking it from her when he no longer wanted a relationship with her.  I kinda think that Elise offered him the rose just to segue into her “cringe-worthy” speech (Sarah’s words) before giving it to Chris.  Dylan even told her before the ceremony that he didn’t want the rose.  I’m not sure why she thought Dylan would be okay with her kissing “the next guy that talks to her” (his words).

Moving on to the Marcus/Lacy/Robert fiasco.  Well, it’s not really a fiasco — just, again, awkward.  Lacy immediately jumped from Robert to Marcus which makes it seem like she just wants to be with someone and it doesn’t matter who.  I think Marcus is falling in love way too quickly (again) and I feel bad for Robert, who seems like a genuinely nice guy.  Lacy is easily the least intelligent woman on the show and I think men only like her for her cleavage, to be honest.  For the record, my favorite gals are Clare and Sarah.

Speaking of Clare, she does end up finding a connection with Zack, which I was glad about.  I know nothing about Zack, but they seem happy.  I also liked that Michelle M gave her rose to Marquel in the end, even though she felt uncomfortable with him being honest with her about her drinking.  She appreciated the honesty and that’s a real woman right there.

Two of the funniest moments were definitely the music during Elise’s speech (props to the editors) and the fact that Chris B called Dylan “Fat Damon”.  I like Dylan, but that’s just hilarious.
