Agents of SHIELD 2×07 ‘Writing on the Wall’: Quick thoughts

This is going to be a quick one since it’s a busy week this week for me, which is a shame because this might be the best episode of SHIELD yet. Coulson’s search for answers causes Skye to be his new bodyguard as May and the team are off hunting Ward. There’s still more than meets the eye when it comes to Ward, but he’s still a creep.

SPOILERS BELOW

Ward doesn’t have much going for him personally right now. SHIELD doesn’t trust him. Hydra probably doesn’t trust him anymore. He killed, what, somewhere around 3 or 4 FBI agents? and an unknown amount of SHIELD agents. Now a handful of Hydra agents. Ward’s intentions are probably just to get into Skye’s good graces because he’s a weirdo. But there’s something commendable about his intent to capture Bakshi.

While we’re on the subject, poor Bakshi. Whitehall’s right hand man can’t catch a break when it comes to running in to Coulson’s Team. Now it looks like things are going to heat up to find Whitehall.

On the other side of the episode, Coulson and Skye discovered other people who have been carving. The race against time element was some of the most intense material the show has presented. We want answers just as much as Coulson and the team. A season and a half, and we’re finally closer. Coulson and the others being driven crazy because of incomplete thoughts made perfect sense. And as for what they were all carving to completion? It’s a map. What it’s a map to is unknown but Marvel comics fans can have a pretty good idea. With the announcement of an Inhumans movie on the horizon, there’s a good chance that this city design is Attilan. Attilan is the home of the Inhumans. I don’t think we’ll find this place anytime soon, unfortunately. However this season has proven to be anything but predictable. It’s been a treat.
